UK Wye Valley Painting Holiday

I am delighted to be joining Alpha Painting Holidays as a tutor in 2027 on their 4 night painting and sketching holiday in the Wye Valley. The Wye Valley is home to Tintern Abbey and the Old Railway Station, Monmouth, St Briavels, Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow and Lydney Harbour. There are also places to paint water and reflections within the forest such as Cannop Ponds. It is a peaceful, tranquil place where there are many opportunities for painting including rivers with their reflections, bridges, castles, interesting architecture, cottages, country houses, panoramic views and much more. 

Our base for the duration of the holiday is Bells Hotel situated in the unspoilt Forest of Dean and close to all locations in The Wye Valley. The hotel combines the traditional, historic feel of the old school house with modern facilities to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. There are 53 en-suite rooms with 36 of them on the ground floor making it ideal if you have limited mobility.

The hotel provides good quality accommodation that is excellent value for money. You will be assured of a warm and personal welcome and you will receive a high standard of service in all aspects of your stay to ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The restaurant serves wonderful home made traditional food.

There are two studios both with the necessary facilities nearby, one of which is on the ground floor and the other is on the lower ground, which has a laminate floor and plenty of natural light as well as vehicle access.There is also a bowling green and an 18-hole golf course on site - ideal for your non-painting partner.

We will depart each morning to a location for sketching outside, with follow up work and larger paintings done in the studio in the afternoon. There will be some walking involved which will be easy going and we will walk no more than a few hundred yards in one go and mainly on flat even ground. No special walking shoes are required.
