Giant Fruit

The focus of this workshop is to develop your mark making skills and will involve working on large scale drawings of fruit sections using gestural marks and a range of materials. Initially we will warm up with some continuous line drawings focusing on the shapes and linear qualities of the objects. Then, by zooming in on an interesting section you will work from observation and develop a mixed media piece using a combination of collage and paint. Support and guidance will be given throughout the process.

Then comes the big work - challenging yourself to work on such a large scale (A1) can be both liberating and exciting! It really encourages you to use large sweeping gestures, to loosen up your mark making and really immerse yourself in the process. In this session you will learn to exploit the qualities of oil pastels whilst learning about tone, composition, colour, shape and form.

This course is designed for all levels of experience and guidance will be differentiated according to need. Beginners are most welcome. Places on this course are limited to five to ensure a high quality of tuition and provision.

What to bring?

You will be provided with all the materials needed for the day, so the only thing you may want to bring is an apron or old shirt. All refreshments and a two course lunch are included. So just turn up and enjoy the day!
